Join Jungle Jim at the Connecticut Science Center on Sunday, February 19, 2017 for an exciting S.T.E.M. Mousetrap Science show! Showtimes are 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:00 pm!
A mouse is loose in the Connecticut Science Center. Jungle Jim proposes to build a BETTER mousetrap; one that will capture the mouse without injuring it. Building a new invention from scratch might be tricky, so we discuss the five simple machines that go into more advanced machines: the lever, the wheel, the pulley, the inclined plane, and the screw. You also may notice something different about the machines I use - they're not made of wood, plastic, or metal - but of balloons! Besides being fun and exciting for kids, Mousetrap Science proves that machines can be made out of just about anything - even balloons! Several volunteers will be used to demonstrate how each machine works encouraging critical thinking and use of the imagination.
